Consent
How long we keep it
We keep personal data for as long as we need it to provide the insurance you’ve bought, plus the retention periods required by regulators:
- Active policy data: kept for the duration of the policy plus six years (FCA and HMRC requirement).
- Claims data: kept for the duration of the policy plus six years after the claim is closed.
- Marketing preferences: kept until you withdraw consent.
- Website analytics: kept according to settings in our cookie policy.
Website forms (Notify me, Contact us, Partner enquiry) are governed by tighter retention windows that are enforced automatically by a daily deletion job:
| Form | Retention | When the clock restarts |
|---|---|---|
| Notify me (Home / Renters / Pet) | 24 months from submission | Never restarted. Deleted on or before month 24. |
| Contact us | 12 months · resets on response | Restarted on response so ongoing conversations are not lost. |
| Partner enquiry | 24 months · indefinite once active | Kept open while live; deleted 24 months after submission if we have not responded. |
| Spam | 30 days from spam-flag | Never restarted. Deleted on or before day 30. |
After the retention period, the record is deleted from our database — not anonymised, deleted. The deletion job runs at 03:00 UK time daily and records the number of rows removed for audit.

UK / EEA data residency by default
We don’t share data outside the UK or EEA except where specifically necessary (for example some payment processors), and only with appropriate safeguards in place.
Automated decision-making
Some parts of our quote process are automated. For example, the price quoted to you is generated by a rating engine that takes account of many factors. This is automated processing within the meaning of UK GDPR.
If you’d like a human to review a decision made by an automated process, contact us and we’ll arrange it.
